Two Dead; Ryan Sanchez Hurt after Rear-End Collision near Reservoir Street

POMONA, CA (April 20, 2022) – Early Sunday morning, 24-year-old Julia Schmidt was killed in a two-vehicle crash on 60 Freeway.

The collision occurred around 2:05 a.m., along the eastbound lanes of the freeway near Reservoir Street. Emergency crews responded to the scene shortly after.

Reports indicated that the driver of a 2019 Honda Civic rear-ended a 2013 Toyota Camry. The Toyota was occupied by Schmidt and the female driver.

Due to the extent of injuries sustained, Schmidt and the woman driving the Civic were pronounced dead at the scene. However, the driver’s identity remains unavailable at this time.

Meanwhile, the Camry driver, identified as 24-year-old Ryan Sanchez, sustained minor injuries and was sent to a nearby hospital.

Moreover, crews closed both directions of the roadway to allow for cleanup and preliminary duties, before it was later reopened.
