17-Year-Old Girl Killed in DUI Accident on West Sandy Mush Road

MERCED, CA (March 25, 2021) – Thursday evening on March 11, 40-year-old Judith Nava, was arrested after killing her 17-year-old daughter in a DUI crash.

The incident took place on West Sandy Mush Road near Combs Road. California Highway Patrol responded to the scene around 7:49 p.m.

Nava was driving a 1997 Toyota Camry at a high rate of speed when she veered off the right shoulder. This caused her to lose control of the vehicle and roll over several times.

Nava’s 17-year-old daughter, who was in the front seat, was not wearing a seatbelt. As a result, she was extricated from the vehicle. Due to the extent of her condition, she was pronounced dead on scene.

However, Nava and her 22-year-old son who was in the back seat were both wearing seatbelts and remained uninjured.

Following investigations, Judith Nava was arrested and booked in the Merced County prison. She was held under bail for $160,360.00.

Alcohol appears to have been a factor in the collision, according to CHP authorities. More details will be provided once available.
