Woman Fatally Struck in Pedestrian Accident near California Park Drive

CHICO, CA (October 17, 2022) – 76-year-old Judith Girimonte died Wednesday morning in a pedestrian crash on Bruce Road.

The incident happened around 8:00 a.m., near California Park Drive on October 5th.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the woman was running when she crossed the street at a red light, into the path of a vehicle that was passing through a green light.

The driver had no time to stop and hit the pedestrian, per initial reports.

Eventually, first responders found the woman with critical injuries. Despite life-saving attempts, paramedics pronounced 76-year-old Girimonte dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, the driver remained in the area and cooperated with the authorities.

Chico police officials did not consider drugs or alcohol to be a factor in the accident. At this time, an investigation is currently underway.
