33-Year-Old Pedestrian Fatally Struck in Deadly Collision on Church Lane

MODESTO, CA (April 1, 2022) – Monday morning, Juan Santillan was killed in a hit-and-run pedestrian crash on East Hatch Road.

The incident occurred around 5:45 a.m., just west of Church Lane. Emergency crews responded to the scene shortly after.

Upon arrival, crews discovered the severely injured cyclist down on the road. Investigators believe the driver of a passing vehicle struck the rider and fled the scene before authorities arrived.

Responding officials declared the male victim, Juan Santillan, dead at the scene, due to the extent of his condition. Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle involved immediately fled the scene.

At this time, California Highway Patrol officers are still working to identify the hit-and-run suspect. Authorities are encouraging anyone with information about the crash to contact Modesto CHP at 209-545-7440.
