A 24-year-old man was fatally shot after a dispute at a mini market in South Los Angeles May 31. According to police reports, Juan Montez was in a fight with an unknown man around 10:30 pm Monday inside the Family Market at 1416 East 25th Street when another man came inside and shot him multiple times in the torso and left arm.
He was transported to a local hospital where he died of his injuries. Police believe the shooting may be gang-related.
There have been 20 fatal shootings in LAPD'S Newton Division so far this year.
