Fatal Collision near 405 Freeway Left Man and Woman Decapitated

GRANADA HILLS, CA (August 17, 2021) – Police are investigating a DUI crash that claimed the life of Juan Menjivar and Ana Santos, on Monday.

Officers responded to the incident around 12:57 a.m., on southbound 5 freeway just south of the San Diego (405) interchange.

Authorities say Menjivar rear-ended a parked 2007 Dart International Big-Rig in his 2010 Lexus sedan. Per reports, Menjivar failed to maintain the curve while traveling at a high rate of speed.

Furthermore, witnesses also stated that the Lexus caught fire with the driver and passenger inside. Both occupants were decapitated as a result of the impact.

Shortly after, authorities declared 37-year-old Juan Carlos Menjivar and 33-year-old Ana Elena Moreno Santos dead at the scene.

In addition, the 35-year-old big-rig driver remained uninjured. Their identity has not yet been provided.

At this time, the authorities are investigating the incident.
