2 Men Dead, 1 Injured Following DUI Collision near 17th Avenue

HANFORFD, CA (July 6, 2022) –  Juan Jose Lugo and Alberto Verduzco lost their lives after a DUI collision on Jersey Avenue Friday evening.

The accident happened around 11:45 p.m. along Jersey Avenue near 17th Avenue, according to Fresno Officials.

Furthermore, per the initial reports, 26-year-old Santana Yanez was speeding in a 2022 Toyota Corolla in East Jersey.

Consequently, it struck a Nissan minivan pulling out of the parking lot of the Tachi Palace Casino Resort.

Both the passenger and the driver of the Nissan died upon impact. Officers later identified them as Juan Jose Lugo and Alberto Verduzco of Fresno.

Meanwhile, medics airlifted Yanez to Kaweah Health Medical Center for treatment of major injuries. Authorities eventually arrested Yanez for DUI.

At this time, authorities are still reviewing the crash for more details. More information will be provided as soon as it is available.
