42-Year-Old Pedestrian Dies in Fatal Collision near Center Street

RIVERSIDE, CA (March 23, 2021) – Sunday afternoon of March 14, Juan Gonzalez was killed in a fatal pedestrian crash on Interstate 215.

The incident happened just before 11:50 a.m. According to reports, Gonzalez was seen walking barefoot along the right shoulder of the road.

Shortly after, Gonzalez was struck by a car near the center divider on the southbound side of the freeway. Paramedics say he was suffering from life-threatening injuries before he was later pronounced dead.

Aside from being suspected as a homeless man, no other information was disclosed about Gonzalez. The surrounding area on the southbound lanes were closed for a brief time during cleanup. However, the roadway has since reopened.

Authorities have not yet released a description of the vehicle that struck Gonzalez. While the cause of the collision still remains unknown, an investigation is underway.
