Car Crashes into Big-Rig on Excelsior Drive, Killing Juan Gomez Nuno

SANTA FE SPRINGS, CA (January 12, 2022)Juan Gomez Nuno died Sunday evening in a semi-truck crash on Excelsior Drive.

According to the Whittier Police Department, the crash happened around 7:21 p.m. Reports indicate the collision involved a car and a big-rig.

For reasons unknown, 42-year-old Nuno crashed into the rear of a semi-truck and slid under the trailer, police said. Nuno was trapped inside the car and was pronounced dead at the scene.

At this time, no information is available regarding the current state of the big-rig driver.

The circumstances that led up to the deadly incident are still under active investigation. The surrounding area of the road was closed for an extended period of time for cleanup and preliminary duties.
