Three Killed Fresno County Two-Vehicle Crash

FRESNO, CA (June 19, 2023) – Thursday morning, a semi-truck crash on Highway 33 claimed the lives of Juan Cortez, Kevin Montesinos, and Amancio Hildago. The incident happened on May 18th, at about 5:08 a.m., on Highway 33 near Manning Avenue. According to CHP officers, a westbound Toyota sedan failed to stop at a red light and collided with the big rig at the intersection. Responding emergency crews pronounced the driver, Juan Cortez, 53, and his passenger Kevin Cruz Montesinos, 21 dead at the scene. While a second passenger, Amancio Hildago 77, later passed away at the hospital. Julio Caballero, the owner of the big rig company, confirmed the full cooperation of his 23-year-old driver with the authorities. At this time, Fresno police do not currently believe that drugs or alcohol were factors. However, an active investigation remains ongoing.
