63-Year-Old Man Dies in Multi-Car Crash near De Anza Boulevard
SAN JOSE, CA (March 30, 2021) – Sunday morning, 63-year-old Juan Conrado Leyva, of San Jose, was killed in a fatal wrong-way accident on Highway 85.
The four-vehicle crash happened shortly after 8:00 a.m., near the De Anza Boulevard off-ramp. According to CHP, Leyva was driving a 2010 Mazda 3 north on the southbound lanes.
Moments later, Leyva collided head-on with an oncoming 2011 Toyota Sienna minivan.
The impact caused the minivan to spin into the adjacent lanes and collide with a gray 2011 Kia Sorento SUV. During the process, debris from the crash hit a 2018 Mercedes C300 sedan.
Upon emergency crew’s arrival, Leyva was pronounced dead on the scene due to the impact of the collision.
At this time, it is unclear how many people were involved in the accident. However, an investigation is underway. Once available, more information will be released.
