Two Men Fatally Struck in Car Accident near Sutterville Road

SACRAMENTO, CA (December 12, 2022) – Tuesday morning, Juan Carlos Rodriguez and Lionel Rodriguez were killed in a car crash on Interstate 5.

Authorities responded to the scene around 9:36 a.m., near Sutterville Road.

Per reports, the driver of a white Dodge pickup-truck possibly ran out of gas and pulled over to the side of the highway. The driver of a maroon Toyota SUV then pulled over on the left hand side of the Sutterville Road on-ramp.

Then, a police detective driving an unmarked black Ford Fusion struck the left rear-end of the Dodge and the two men.

Due to the extent of his condition, medics pronounced one man dead at the scene. Meanwhile, paramedics transported the other man to a nearby hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Authorities later identified the deceased victims as 33-year-old Juan Carlos Rodriguez from Sacramento and 32-year-old Lionel Rodriguez of Simi Valley.
