39-Year-Old Man Arrested for Manslaughter after Three-Vehicle Collision on Jessica Avenue

TUCSON, AZ (June 15, 2021) – Friday evening, Joy Jacobs was killed and Christopher Myers was arrested after a fatal accident on Broadway Boulevard.

The incident happened around 5:45 p.m., near Jessica Avenue.

Officers located a white 2000 Toyota Corolla, a black 2016 Dodge Challenger, and a black 2018 Audi Q5.

According to the police, Myers was making a left turn in his Toyota from westbound Broadway onto northbound Jessica.

Meanwhile, the westbound Dodge was heading through the junction when the Toyota turned in front of it and the vehicles collided.

The Corolla then lost control and struck the Audi stopped at the red light.

Medics transported two Toyota passengers to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. The 67-year-old passenger, Joy Lynn Jacobs, later died at the hospital.

Officers said that 39-year-old Christopher Paul Myers was intoxicated at the time. The factors that caused the crash were “failure to yield while attempting to make a left-turn and impaired driving.”

In addition, Myers was charged with manslaughter, criminal damage, and aggravated assault. He was later booked into Pima County Jail.

Once available, more information will be released.
