Auto-Pedestrian Collision near Maryland Parkway Left 1 Man Dead
LAS VEGAS, NV (June 2, 2023) – Sunday night, police arrested Josue Ghione following a fatal DUI collision on Sahara Avenue. The accident happened on May 21st at about 9:30 p.m. along Sahara Avenue just east of Maryland Parkway. According to the Nevada State Patrol, a Honda Civic was driving west on Sahara when it collided with a man walking in the street outside of a marked crosswalk. Paramedics arrived and transported the critically injured pedestrian to Sunrise Hospital. Police confirmed that the man eventually succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. While the driver of the Honda, 27-year-old Josue Ghione, fled on foot and did not render aid to the victim. He was later apprehended and charged with DUI, reckless driving resulting in death, and failure to stop at the scene of an accident. At this time, officials withheld the name of the deceased victim pending notification of kin.
