Here's a doozy:

The District Attorney's office today said Joshua Woodward, co-owner of L.A. restaurant Table 8, tried to induce miscarriage in his then-girlfriend four times by giving her the drug misoprostol. Prosecutors say that's attempted murder.

The 40-year-old Woodward surrendered today and pleaded not guilty in Los Angeles Superior Court, according to a district attorney's statement:

His bail was set at $4 million and he was scheduled to return to court tomorrow for a bail review hearing.

Table 8 also has a location in South Beach; Woodward apparently lives in Florida.

Here's what the DA's office alleges he did:

The Florida resident is charged with trying to induce a miscarriage on four separate occasions between Sept. 15, 2009, and Oct. 25, 2009, by using misoprostol, a drug used in the medical community to induce labor and terminate early-stage pregnancies.

He faces “four counts of attempted, willful and premeditated murder,” according to the DA's statement.

Prosecutors say he could face life behind bars if he's convicted.
