28-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Auto Collision near Richmond Parkway

RICHMOND, CA (February 3, 2023) – Wednesday evening, Joshua Brandon was fatally injured in a rear-end crash on Interstate 80.

The incident happened just before 10:30 p.m., near East Richmond Parkway.

Per reports, the driver of a Mercedes was traveling at a high rate of speed and rear-ended an eastbound Honda. Upon impact, the Mercedes overturned.

Amidst the chaos, the Mercedes driver ended up on the westbound lanes of I-80 where he was hit by a passing Nissan. Medical personnel arrived and pronounced 28-year-old Brandon, of Oakland dead at the scene.

Emergency crews closed off the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties. California Highway Patrol reopened the eastbound lanes of the freeway around 11:54 p.m., and the westbound lanes at 12:22 a.m.

At this time, an active investigation to determine further information is still currently underway. Once available, more details will be provided.
