Pedestrian Fatally Struck in Long Beach Crash on Stearns Street 

LONG BEACH, CA (June 18, 2021)Joseph Maez was arrested late Saturday night after a deadly pedestrian crash on Stearns Street.

The tragic accident took place near Radnor Avenue around 11:20 p.m., on June 12. Long Beach Police arrived shortly after.

A westbound 2016 Honda Civic struck a man in a wheelchair, while he was attempting to push a shopping cart across in an unmarked crosswalk.

Despite life-saving measures, the severely injured victim pronounced dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, the CHP arrested the driver of the Honda, 26-year-old Joseph Maez, on suspicion of DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter. He was later booked on a $100,000 bail.

At this time, the California Highway Patrol is still investigating the crash.
