In Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery, Joseph Hyungmin Son plays a bad-guy henchman, “Random Task,” who can fatally twist the head of a foe like you snap a twig.

Maybe he really is that badass in real life, or at least bad. Because Son is being investigated in the death of his cellmate, California prison officials announced today.

The roomy, a 50-year-old sex offender …

… was found dead in his cell at the Wasco State Prison-Reception Center in Kern County about 5:50 p.m. yesterday, according to a statement from the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation:

Joseph Son, 40, has been identified as a suspect in the case.

The victim was serving a 2 year sentence for violating parole that stemmed from his sex-offender conviction, according to the CDCR.

Son was convicted of torture and sentenced to life behind bars in a case involving the 1990 rape of a woman on Christmas Eve 1990 in Orange County. He just started his sentence Sept. 16.

He is also a one-time martial arts fighter so, regardless of his guilt or innocence here, you really don't want to be his cellmate unless your name's Dr. Evil (and maybe not even then — see our photo).
