1 Pronounced Dead after Multi-Car Accident near Meadowvale Road

SANTA YNEZ VALLEY, CA (October 12, 2022) – Sunday morning, a crash on Highway 154 claimed the life of Joseph Anthony Nunez.

The incident took place just before 10:30 a.m., near Meadowvale Road on October 9th.

According to reports, Nunez was driving east in a 2013 Ford C-Max and swerved into the westbound lanes to avoid striking stopped traffic ahead.

There, the wrong-way vehicle struck a 2020 BMW X5, causing the BMW to overturn. The C-Max then continued east on the westbound lanes and collided with a 2008 Toyota Highlander.

Emergency crews arrived and pronounced 40-year-old Nunez dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, the driver of the Highlander, 52-year-old Steven Mon, and his three passengers sustained injuries. Medics transported them to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for treatment.

Additionally, the driver of the BMW, 60-year-old Katha Penny, sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
