Bicycle Crash near Poinsettia Street Kills 73-Year-Old Murrieta Man

MURRIETA, CA (April 27, 2023) – Sunday evening, Josef Binter was killed in a bicycle accident involving an SUV on Whitewood Road. The collision happened at around 7:50 p.m., just north of Poinsettia Street. According to reports, a northbound bicyclist was riding along Whitewood Road and failed to spot a parked SUV along a curbside. Investigators said the 37-year-old female driver of the SUV parked on the roadside to tend to her child in the backseat. As the bicyclist enter the intersection, the bicyclist collided with the rear end of the vehicle. Unfortunately, the first responders declared the male bicyclist dead at the scene. Later, police identified the deceased man as 73-year-old Josef Binter. The female driver and her child did not sustain any injuries.
