Pedestrian Fatally Struck in DUI Accident near West Lake Mead Boulevard
LAS VEGAS, NV (November 14, 2023) – Jose Ramirez was placed in jail Saturday afternoon after a DUI pedestrian crash on Decatur and West Lake Mead Boulevard. The incident occurred at approximately 12:45 p.m., on November 4th.
Officers say Ramirez, 51, was operating a silver 2010 Honda Pilot SUV eastbound on West Lake Mead Boulevard. Ramirez then attempted to enter North Decatur Boulevard when a tire popped, causing him to lose control. The Honda then traveled onto the sidewalk where it struck a pedestrian.
Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics later pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. Although, police have not yet released their identity.
Following preliminary duties, crews evaluated Jose Ramirez who displayed signs of intoxication. Police officers then arrested Ramirez for DUI charges resulting in the death, and booked him into the Clark County Detention Center.
