Two Officers Injured in Patrol Vehicle Collision near Hillcrest Drive

LOS ANGELES, CA (December 12, 2022) – Sunday evening, Jose Nicholas Lopez was arrested after a car crash on Martin Luther King Boulevard. The collision occurred on December 4th, at around 5:00 p.m., near Hillcrest Drive. According to reports, officers responded to a request for a backup call from Southwest Area Gang Officers. There, responding units spotted a dark Nissan sedan heading north in the southbound lanes of traffic. The Nissan then accelerated toward the police vehicle before striking the passenger side of the police car. Responding medics transported two officers to a nearby hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries. Meanwhile, police arrested the Nissan driver, 21-year-old Jose Nicholas Lopez, for assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer. His bail is set for $50,000.
