One Dead, Two Injured in Car Accident near 405 Freeway

MISSION HILLS, CA (February 7, 2022) – Monday morning, Jose Mora was fatally struck in a car crash on 118 Freeway.

Officials said the incident occurred on the westbound lanes of the freeway around 7:30 a.m. Crews responded to the scene near the 405 Freeway shortly after.

The Los Angeles Fire Department said a panel truck and a work truck towing a trailer were involved. According to reports, the driver of one of the vehicles was changing a tire when he was struck by the other driver.

Due to the impact of the collision, one man had to be extracted from the work truck.

Additionally, two other men were believed to be in a “serious condition”, while Mora was pronounced dead at the scene.

California Highway Patrol said the right three lanes of the 118 were closed, as well as the left lane of the transition road to the southbound 405. Traffic was backed up for miles in the area and motorists were advised to avoid the scene.
