35-Year-Old Woman Dies in Pedestrian Accident on Adams Street

BAKERSFIELD, CA (February 12, 2023) – Tuesday night, Jose Luis Moscott Ruiz was involved in a fatal pedestrian accident. The incident occurred around 6:49 p.m., February 7th, near South Union Avenue and Adams Street. According to the CHP, a vehicle driven by 26-year-old Ruiz and a 35-year-old female pedestrian were involved in the incident. Investigation showed that the woman attempted to cross South Union Avenue when she was struck by Ruiz. The woman was reportedly wearing dark clothing at that time. Furthermore, Ruiz remained at the scene and cooperated with the authorities. Meanwhile, the identity of the woman was not yet determined and the crash is still under investigation. A large portion of the area was temporarily shut down to allow for cleanup and preliminary duties but has since been reopened. No additional information was released and any witnesses are urged to contact the investigating officers of the CHP at 661-396-6600.
