Pedestrian Killed in Two-Vehicle Accident on Ashe Road

BAKERSFIELD, CA (October 25, 2022) – Wednesday a pedestrian crash on District Boulevard claimed the life of Jose Luis De La Torres Vargas.

The incident happened at around 9:38 a.m., on October 19th, near the intersection of District Boulevard and Ashe Road.

According to reports, a vehicle heading northbound ran a red light causing it to collide with a second vehicle. The drivers lost control of their vehicles and struck Vargas who was standing on the northeast corner of the intersection.

Following the crash, officers arrived at the scene and found the pedestrian with serious injuries. Medics later pronounced 61-year-old Jose Luis De La Torres Vargas of Panorama City dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle that ran the red light was transported to a local hospital for treatment of moderate injuries.
