Woman Pronounced Dead after Pedestrian Accident on Bear Valley Road

HESPERIA, CA (May 1, 2023) – Late Monday night, Jose Elizalda was involved in a fatal pedestrian collision on 2nd Avenue. Authorities responded to the scene around 11:15 p.m., near Bear Valley Road on April 24th. Upon arrival, deputies from San Bernardino County Fire learned that a woman attempted to cross Bear Valley Road when she was struck by an eastbound Lexus I250 driven by 52-year-old Elizalda. Shortly after, another driver rear-ended a vehicle that attempting to avoid striking the woman and caused it to overturn. Although, no injuries were reported in the second collision. Due to the extent of injuries sustained, officers pronounced the female pedestrian dead at the scene. Emergency crews blocked off the eastbound lanes of Bear Valley Road for several hours. Following preliminary duties, police do not believe that alcohol or drugs played a factor. However, an active investigation is still currently underway.
