A Latino man fatally shot at about 1:50 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 7 has been identified as 19-year-old Jorge Lorenzo, according to coroner's reports. Police believe the victim was driving a tan Mercury van involved in a drive-by shooting on the 400 block of North Westlake Avenue when he was hit.

Lorenzo was then transported to the City Of Angeles Medical Center on West Temple Street by two unidentified citizens, where he was soon pronounced dead.

LAPD Officer Cleon Joseph told City News Service that after receiving reports of gunfire, police arrived at Westlake Avenue to find a 23-year-old shooting victim with a wound in his leg. Minutes later, they received reports of another shooting at the

intersection of Glendale Boulevard and Park Avenue, where they found only the abandoned van.

That's when officers took a third call, informing them that Lorenzo had been delivered to the nearby medical facility — leading them to believe he exchanged gunfire with the victim who had sustained a leg injury.

Anyone with information regarding the shoot-out is urged to call the LAPD Rampart Homicide detectives at (213) 484-3634.
