One Fatally Struck in Hit-and-Run on Highway 41, Jorge Castaneda Arrested

ATASCADERO, CA (September 23, 2021) 26-year-old Jorge Castaneda arrested after a deadly hit-and-run crash on Highway 41 that killed one pedestrian last Monday.

The accident occurred around 7:39 p.m. on Highway 41 east near the intersection of Santa Rosa Road.

According to reports, a Jeep crossed into oncoming traffic at the intersection and ended up colliding into another vehicle. CHP believed the driver of the Jeep was intoxicated at the time of the crash.

Subsequently, the Jeep driver fled the scene before police arrived. Police later arrested the suspect, Jorge Castaneda, 26, of Paso Robles.

Although no one from the car’s occupants were injured, police later discovered that the Jeep driver fatally struck a male pedestrian.

At this time, officials have not released any information about the male pedestrian.

The CHP continues to investigate the fatal crash and ask anyone with information to contact Atascadero Police Department at 805-461-5051.
