Head-On DUI Collision near Stewart Street Left Officer and Driver Hospitalized

OCEANSIDE, CA (December 19, 2022) –  Early Tuesday morning, a DUI crash on Vista Way led to the arrest of Jonathan Shipp Sr. The collision happened on December 13th, just after 1:30 a.m. at the 1200 block of Vista Way. According to reports, a white Kia Optima exited State Route 78 while traveling westbound at a high rate of speed. The driver lost control of the vehicle after it entered Vista Way for reasons under investigation. The Kia then drove into a raised center island and collided with the parked patrol vehicle. First responders at the scene transported the officer and the Kia Driver to a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
