Luiz Armando Ayala Arrested after Pedestrian Hit-and-Run on Rose Avenue

OXNARD, CA (July 28, 2022) – Sunday morning, John Winter was killed in a DUI hit-and-run that resulted in the arrest of Luiz Armando Ayala.

The incident happened at 3:30 a.m. near St. John’s Regional Medical Center, at the intersection of Rose Avenue and Tiesa Lane.

According to reports, Winter was walking in the area near St. John’s Regional Medical Center, when he was fatally struck by a vehicle. The driver of the vehicle left the scene without rendering aid to the victim.

Paramedics later arrived at the site of the accident and pronounced 58-year-old Winter dead at the scene.

Police later apprehended the driver, 20-year-old Ayala, and charged him with vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, DUI, and felony hit-and-run.
