John Williams Knows the Score: You don’t have to be a massive fan of orchestral music to know who John Williams is. His film scores are at least as big a part of popular culture as the music of any band, Beatles included. Everybody knows the theme to Star Wars, Superman, Indiana Jones, E.T. and Jaws, to name just a few. When it comes to scores, Williams is the master.

All this weekend, he’s conducting the LA Phil through those amazing pieces — an annual series of shows appropriately dubbed “Maestro of the Movies.” David Newman will also conduct sections, and certain pieces will be performed in sync with film clips. At the beautiful Hollywood Bowl too — it all sounds epic.

John Williams Knows the Score: The event takes place at 8 p.m. on Friday, September 3, Saturday, September 4 and Sunday, September 5 at the Hollywood Bowl.
