62-Year-Old Man Killed in Pedestrian Accident near Eastern Avenue

LAS VEGAS, NV (September 7, 2021) – Monday morning, 62-year-old John Hooks of Las Vegas, died in a pedestrian accident on Sahara Avenue.

The crash took place around 4:10 a.m., at the intersection of Sahara Avenue near Eastern Avenue.

According to Metro Police, Hooks was attempting to cross the street on Sahara when he lost his footing and fell into the path of an eastbound Toyota.

Investigators say the Toyota was driven by a 69-year-old Las Vegas man. The driver remained at the site and showed no symptoms of intoxication.

Meanwhile Hooks was transported to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center for treatment of life-threatening injuries. Due to the extent of his injuries, he was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

While police examined the situation, Sahara Avenue was closed in both directions. However, the road has since reopened to traffic.

Meanwhile, the crash is still under active investigation.
