55-Year-Old Man Killed in Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Crash near Baseline Road
PHOENIX, AZ (December 14, 2022) – Tuesday night, John Franklin was fatally struck in a hit-and-run pedestrian collision on 51st Avenue.
Police responded to dispatch calls around 6:37 p.m., near Baseline Road.
Investigators say Franklin was attempting to cross Basline when the driver of a westbound vehicle struck him. Upon impact, the driver fled the scene without rendering aid or contacting authorities.
Paramedics arrived and rushed the man to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries where he was later pronounced dead. The coroner’s office later identified the deceased victim as 55-year-old Franklin.
At this time, authorities are still looking for the suspect and his vehicle and urge anyone with information about the crash on 51st Avenue to contact the local police immediately. An active investigation is underway.
