Hit-and-Run on Sandalwood Drive Kills 56-year-old John Cartel Eugene Gabbard
EL CAHON, CA (January 5, 2022) – John Cartel Eugene Gabbard died Tuesday morning after getting involved in a hit-and-run on Sandalwood Drive.
According to police, the incident took place at 5:55 a.m. as Gabbard was attempting to cross the road at the corner of Sandalwood Drive and Ballantyne Street.
Gabbard was struck by a vehicle and loss consciousness due to the collision. Paramedics transported him to Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego.
According to the coroner’s office, he did not survive the injuries he received and died at 11:45 a.m. that same morning.
Furthermore, investigators believe that a dark-colored truck headed south towards the I-8 Bridge struck Gabbard.
