46-Year-Old Bicyclist Killed in Deadly Collision near International Drive

RANCHO CORDOVA, CA (January 19, 2022) –  Early Sunday evening, 46-year-old John Anthony Matias was killed in a bicycle collision.

Rancho Cordova police said the crash happened shortly after 7:00 p.m., near the intersection of International and Zinfandel Drive.

Per reports, the driver of a southbound vehicle struck Matias on Zinfandel Drive in the far right lane. Investigators say Matias was attempting to cross the roadway at the time.

Due to the impact of the collision, Sacramento Metro Fire personnel declared Matias dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, the driver remained at the scene and spoke with law enforcement personnel. Although, authorities have not yet released their identity.

No further details regarding the crash are public at this time. However, more information will be provided once made available.
