Rumors are the most fun when they're true. According to a highly reliable source who wishes to remain anonymous (and news stories are the most fun when you get to say that), today's Eater LA report that Bastide is reopening is correct.

Joe Pytka's Melrose Place restaurant, shuttered since last November, will reopen “mid-November” (that's almost one year later) with former L'Orangerie chef Jérôme Voltat (Le Bristol in Paris, Michel Guérard in Éugénie-les-Bains, Pic in Valence) behind the stoves. Voltat will be the second L'Orangerie chef to cook for the quixotic Pytka: the other L'Orangerie alum (and fellow Frenchman) was Ludo Lefebvre, who was the Bastide chef after Alain Giraud and before Walter Manzke. Paul Shoemaker was the chef when Pytka suddenly closed Bastide a year ago. That's if you're keeping score at home. I bet Pytka is.

Bastide: 8475 Melrose Place, West Hollywood; (323) 651-5950.
