32-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Pedestrian Collision near V Street

SACRAMENTO, CA (June 10, 2024) Joe Johnson was arrested Friday morning after a pedestrian collision on 16th and V Street.

Police officers responded to the scene around 1:00 a.m., near Uptown Alley.

Per reports, a male pedestrian was struck by an unidentified vehicle, and the driver fled the scene without providing aid or notifying authorities.

Around 7:00 p.m., police officers located the suspect in the 2300 block of Broadway. Crews arrested 41-year-old Joe Earl Johnson, booking him into the Sacramento County Jail for felony hit-and-run.

Medical responders transported the 32-year-old pedestrian to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries. He later passed away on Monday. The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office has not yet released the identity of the deceased.
