Woman Pronounced Dead after Pedestrian Hit-and-Run Collision near Mt. Hood Street

LAS VEGAS, NV (January 24, 2023) Early Saturday morning, Joanna Meza was arrested after a fatal hit-and-run on East Lake Boulevard.

The accident occurred around 4:25 a.m., at the intersection of E. Lake Boulevard and Mt. Hood Street.

According to the NHP, the driver of a silver 2000 Toyota Avalon struck a pedestrian who was crossing the street. Upon impact, the driver fled the scene without rendering aid to the victim.

Despite life-saving efforts, paramedics later pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. Officials only described the victim as a 24-year-old North Las Vegas woman.

Meanwhile, officials were able to locate the driver, identified as 19-year-old Joanna Meza, and arrested her with hit-and-run charges.
