Joan Rivers might have some fashion sense, but she doesn't know how to compliment (or supplement) her own writers.

That, at least, is what writers on her E! show Fashion Police are claiming today. The Writers Guild of America, West announced that the scribes have filed a complaint …

… with the state Division of Labor Standards Enforcement that alleges they're owed $400,000 worth of back wages.

This comes after the writers filed a similar complaint, alleging $1.1 million worth of back pay is owed, naming the show's network, E!.

Today's action targets Rivers' production company, Rugby Productions. The heart of the scribes' ire is their allegation that they haven't been paid overtime despite working more than eight hours a day and more than 40 hours a week.

The Guild states:

The writers are claiming that Fashion Police violated California laws that require an employer to pay hourly employees their regular wage rate for all time worked in an eight-hour period. The law also requires the payment of overtime for work in excess of eight hours in any workday or 40 hours in any workweek.

State officials are expected to hold hearings on the matter. WGAW President Chris Keyser:

Throughout our history, prominent members of the Guild have stood up for their fellow writers to ensure they are treated fairly and compensated properly. Unfortunately, this has not been the case with Ms. Rivers.

So far we haven't heard anything from Rivers.
