After what seemed like a year — and was in fact a year — of waiting, Jinya has finally opened its outpost on Sawtelle near the corner of Olympic. In the time it took them to open, at least three other ramen spots have opened nearby.

The menu is almost identical to the Ramen Jinya in Studio City: Tonkotsu ramen — including a black version with black garlic oil and a spicy red version — soupless ramen, gyoza and organic tofu made to order at your table.

The restaurant is decked out with a huge black stone bell, which the manager explained is modeled on those in Japan used to communicate with the gods. In case you're worried about eating under a giant hunk of stone hanging from the ceiling in earthquake country, don't fret — it's made of Styrofoam.
