On February 19, Jewell King was fatally shot in the 11600 block of South Main Street in Broadway-Manchester.

Gunshots were reported to the LAPD at 9:45 p.m. and the 54-year-old black women was found a short time later in the street suffering from gunshot wounds to the chest and arm, according to coroner's records.

Paramedics then took the victim to Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, where she died.

The area where King was shot is sandwiched in between the 105 freeway and a residential neighborhood.

The Los Angeles Times reported that authorities at the time had found no connections or possible motives for the shooting. Any suspects were unknown.
