23-Year-Old Suspect Arrested after Fleeing Hit-and-Run Collision near Union Hills Drive

PHOENIX, AZ (March 2, 2023) – Sunday afternoon, Jesus Soto was arrested following a hit-and-run collision on 15th Avenue. The incident happened on February 26th at around 1:05 p.m. near 15th Avenue and Union Hills Drive. Investigation showed that a Kia Optima driven by 23-year-old Soto was traveling eastbound on Union Hills Drive when he crashed into a Toyota Prius. According to the report, the Prius attempted to make a left turn southbound onto 15th Avenue. As a result, the Kia was sent to a pole due to the impact of the collision, and its engine was separated. Furthermore, the driver of the Prius suffered serious head trauma and were transported to the hospital in critical condition. Also, two occupants of Soto were wounded and was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Following the crash, Soto fled the scene and went home to report the incident after two hours. Officers arrived at Soto’s location and arrested him with one count of fleeing the scene of an injury collision. Soto was taken into custody at the Maricopa County Jail.
