21-Year-Old Man Arrested Following Auto Accident on Rancho Santa Fe Road in Encinitas

Encinitas, CA (March 4, 2021 ) – Saturday night, police arrested 21-year-old Jesus Padilla after a vehicle pursuit on Interstate 5.

The search began around 8:45 p.m., when deputies located a stolen vehicle near the intersection of Rancho Santa Fe Road and Capalina Road.

There, authorities attempted to pull him over when the vehicle pursuit began through the cities of Vista, Carlsbad and Encinitas.

Shortly after, an Astrea Sherriff’s Helicopter was dispatched to help follow the vehicle. According to reports, the driver left Interstate 5 in the south direction before he crashed with an MTS bus on Encinitas Boulevard.

The suspect vehicle then struck a guardrail, causing the airbags to be deployed. There, 21-year-old Jesus Jesse Padilla was arrested. However, authorities did not indicate whether he was injured.
