21-Year-Old Driver Arrested and 4 Injured in DUI Crash

LA QUINTA, CA (September 22, 2022) – Sunday afternoon, Jesus Daniel Barrera was arrested following a DUI collision.

The incident took place near the intersection of Avenue 48 and Dune Palms Drive on September 18th, at around 4:49 p.m.

Police said that the crash involved a Dodge Durango and a Nissan Rouge.

According to reports, 21-year-old Barrera was driving the Dodge at a high rate of speed and rear-ended the Rouge. This caused the driver of the Nissan to lose control before the vehicle overturned.

Four occupants inside the Nissan sustained serious injuries upon impact. Medics arrived shortly after and transported all of the victims to Desert Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Barrera sustained injuries in the collision, but he declined medical treatment. Authorities determined that he was under the influence and booked him into John Benoit Detention Center.
