Pedestrian Fatally Struck in Hit-and-Run on Highway 119

BAKERSFIELD, CA (July 14, 2022) – On Saturday, a hit-and-run on Highway 119 claimed the life of 27-year-old Jesse Sanchez.

According to Bakersfield officials, the crash happened east of Old River Road. Sanchez was partially in the westbound lanes of the road when a grey Honda Accord fatally struck him. The driver of the Accord drove off after the incident.

California Highway Patrol said that Sanchez’s body was found around 3:45 a.m. and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

After some investigation, authorities found the hit-and-run suspect’s vehicle, abandoned near the crash scene. At this time, officials are working to identify the hit-and-run suspect, no arrests have been announced.
