55-Year-Old Jesse Lueras Fatally Struck in Two-Car Collision near Milepost 140

SOCORRO, NM (May 19, 2021) – Sunday, 55-year-old Jesse Lueras of Carlsbad, was killed in a deadly rear-end collision on Interstate 25.

The incident was reported on May 9th, on the northbound lanes near milepost 140.

Reports revealed that a 69-year-old woman driving a 2007 Nissan Sentra with two adult passengers was merging onto the northbound lanes at a low rate of speed.

There, the Sentra was rear-ended by a 2020 Nissan Frontier driven by a 30-year-old woman. Investigators say four children were in the Nissan Frontier.

The collision caused significant damage to both vehicles and resulted in multiple injuries.

Due to the impact of the crash, Lueras, a passenger of the Sentra, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, medics rushed the other victims to nearby hospital for further treatment. At this time, the police did not disclose the names of the drivers and passengers.

No further information has been released to the public. However, an active investigation to determine more details is still underway.
