15-Year-Old Killed in Crash near Poplar Street

RIVERSIDE, CA (March 4, 2022) – On Tuesday, 15-year-old Javier Gonzalez died following a pedestrian crash near Main Street.

The accident happened near Main and Poplar Streets about 9:30 p.m.

Furthermore, according to authorities, a pickup truck was heading southbound at an unknown rate of speed.

Consequently, it struck the teen in a bicycle in the middle of the street for reasons unknown, and continued driving onwards.

Despite life-saving efforts by first responders, Gonzalez was pronounced dead at the scene.

Moreover, the driver of the truck who fled from the scene and did not render aid, authorities are currently searching for the involved suspect.

The Riverside police are asking for the publics help to identify the hit-and-run driver.

This marked the fifth fatal collision in Riverside in the past five days.

An active investigation into the crash is ongoing.
