Former laker Javaris Crittenton was being sought by the FBI today, and authorities think he's in L.A. An “Unlawful Flight to Avoid Prosecution” warrant was just issued for his arrest, according to the FBI.

If what they say is true it was a petty, tragic shooting that put the baller-suspect in this position: Authorities allege that he retaliated after someone stole his jewelry in April. But, they say, he shot the wrong person Aug. 19.

The victim was a woman:

Twenty-two-year-old Julian Jones, who agents say was gunned down in Atlanta with an assault-type rifle. The FBI described it as a drive-by involving a dark SUV.

According to an FBI statement, Crittenton …

… is believed to have traveled to the Los Angeles, California area where he is known to have family and friends. Investigators learned that on August 24th, Crittenton purchased and traveled on a one way airline ticket to Los Angeles

.

According to the Orlando Sentinel he played “113 games for the Los Angeles Lakers, Memphis Grizzlies and Washington Wizards from Nov. 2007 through April 2009.”

Crittenton's career went south, however, after a locker room showdown in late 2009 with then-Wizards-teammate Gilbert Arenas. They both brought guns into the locker room in a beef over gambling. Crittenton hasn't played pro ball since.

If you see this unusually tall man (he measures 6 feet, 5 inches) with an allegedly bad aim, call authorities.

Update: FBI agents and Orange County sheriff's deputies caught him about 8 tonight as he was allegedly trying to board a flight to Atlanta at John Wayne Airport in O.C., the FBI's Laura Eimiller told City News Service.
