Justin Preston Arrested after Pedestrian Collision Kills One and Injures Another

MARYSVILLE, CA (January 30, 2023) – Thursday night, Jastelyn Hernandez Garcia was killed, one other was injured in a hit-and-run crash. The incident happened on January 14th, at around 7:16 p.m., near 1900 block of B Street. According to reports, Justin Preston was driving southbound on B Street when he struck a 15-year-old boy and 13-year-old Jastelyn Hernandez Garcia. Preston then fled the scene without rendering aid to the victims. Responding paramedics transported both patients to Adventist Health/Rideout Hospital for immediate treatment. The 13-year-old, Jastelyn Hernandez Garcia, succumbed to her injuries the following Thursday. Eventually, authorities managed to arrest the driver, 23-year-old Justin Preston, in the 6000 block of Viera Lane. Police booked him for felony hit-and-run resulting in permanent injury or death. Preston’s bail is set at $100,000. At this time, the Yuba County Officials continue to investigate the B Street hit-and-run.
