Chef Jason Neroni has been busy on his Instagram account teasing us with photos of the upcoming Catch & Release, his seafood project with restaurateur Bill Chait in the old Paiche location in Marina del Rey. Today word comes that the restaurant will open to the public next week, barring any unforeseen setbacks.

The restaurant is currently going through the last phases of staff training and design, and doors should be open to the public next Thursday, May 7. Representatives from the restaurant are avoiding terming it a “soft opening,” but say they will likely limit the number of customers they'll serve in the first couple of days and weeks. You can already make reservations on Open Table

Right now the plan is for Catch & Release to be open this Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 6-10 p.m., closed Sunday and Monday, and then open the following Tuesday-Saturday for service from 6-10:30 p.m. Eventually they'll be open for lunch and brunch, but they'll ease into it with a six-day-a-week dinner only service.

When we spoke to Neroni about plans for the restaurant back in January, he had this to say about its seafood theme: “When you come in, you're going to know this is my restaurant. I'm not keeping the menu to lobster rolls and fish and chips. You'll see a lot of California influence, seafood from Santa Barbara, lots of oysters from all over, West Coast and East.”
